Every now and then on Christmas, I'll watch the third one but the first two is always a Christmas tradition. I might like the second a little more than the first but it really is a battle for first. I used to hate the third one until I saw part 4 and now it's up to okay. Once, a rich man had to go on a business trip for a long weekend, leaving his young, beautiful wife home alone. Fearing she would seek company with another man while he was away, he got her a magical gift from a near by antique shop. The next day, I was alone in my friend’s house again, when the phone rang for a second time.
Buzz apologized to him but Kevin decided not to apologize for standing up to Buzz and this upset Kate and Peter. At the end of the movie, Buzz and the entire McCallister family were around the Christmas tree and Buzz made an announcement. He said that Kevin brought the family together that year so he should open the first present. Buzz threw Kevin a present from Mr. Duncan and wished his brother a merry Christmas. Ratray had roles in the movies, "Dennis the Menace", "Strong Island Boys" and "Slippery Slope".

Columbus initially hoped to have Bruce Broughton score the film, and early posters listed him as the composer. However, Broughton was busy with The Rescuers Down Under, and he had to cancel at the last minute. Columbus was later able to get in touch with Steven Spielberg, who helped him contact John Williams to produce the final score. Traditional Christmas songs, such as "O Holy Night" and "Carol of the Bells", are featured prominently in the film, as well as the film's theme song "Somewhere in My Memory".
Peter and Kate notified the local police that Kevin was missing and the officer asked them for a recent picture of Kevin. Peter said he had one in his wallet but he realized that Kevin had his wallet. The officer asked Peter if he had credit cards in the wallet and Peter said he did. The officer informed him to notify the credit card companies since they could track if Kevin used it anywhere and anyplace. Peter was relieved when he learned that Kevin was in New York City and he also realized that his brother, Rob, lived in New York City. Peter believed that Kevin went to go visit Uncle Rob (Kevin used Rob's home to do battle with Marv and Harry).

On Christmas Day, Kevin is initially disappointed to find that his family is still gone, although Kate arrives home and they reconcile. The rest of the family soon return after waiting in Paris until they could obtain a direct flight to Chicago.
